Safenet’s Construction Division offers a flexible combination of multi-disciplinary capabilities in the design, building and engineering fields – with extensive experience in providing solutions for developing countries. Safenet has been involved in projects in Africa and the Middle East, where there is a need for cost-effective, inclusive programmes in multi-cultural environments. Managers often need to adapt to complex environments.

Our key personnel are multi-national and work well with local staff members. The mentoring and empowerment of our employees is a priority and takes place daily. Safenet has access to multi-disciplinary professional services and support in South Africa and other countries, enabling us to draw on additional resources and experience and skills. Quality control and safety are priorities – before the completed project is presented to the client, all infrastructure (power-generation, water and sewage facilities), are tested, commissioned and inspected to ensure that all construction meets with the client’s approval.

Safenet has successfully designed and completed complex assignments such as military installations, schools, hospitals, police stations and other infrastructure, which demonstrate our extensive capabilities.

Geo-Technical Site Surveys

Geo-Technical surveys and soil analyses are performed in order to determine the bearing capacity of the soil and the type of foundation required. In the case of an unsuitable soil condition, like clay or silty earth, these surveys and analyses are important, especially in areas that are low on the water table or places in proximity to sandy or marshy regions.

Once this research has been done, architectural, electrical, water/sewage systems are designed and presented in a complete package for final approval by the client and the relevant authorities.

Design and Engineering

After the client’s needs are ascertained, conceptual drawings are presented to them for approval, this facilitates a process whereby the construction design can be tailored to address each set of requirements and suit different environments. Once the designs are approved, final drawings are made by the architectural team.

Civil Engineering

Safenet has successfully completed the following types of construction projects:

  • Bridges
  • Roads
  • Complete bases and forts
  • Runways and hangars
  • Providing the following support services: concrete solutions, excavation, site work and landscaping, demolition and road and pavement maintenance

Once the final designs have been approved, construction commences. We manage, and encourage the maximum participation from the local community to transfer their skills and to empower them. As standard practice, the construction is phased with progress milestones. Quality control and safety are prioritised – joint inspections are conducted once each of the levels of completion is reached. All infrastructure (power generation, water and sewage facilities), is thoroughly inspected, commissioned, and tested to the clients’ satisfaction before the final presentation.
